Thursday was rough. My knee surgery (as described in my last journal) has left my knee frozen at an angle to where I can walk, but bending (stairs) is a very big challenge. I've probably made many people mad in the stairwells because it takes me fo' friggin' ever to get up the flights.

So not only on Thursday do I wake-up and start getting ready an hour early because somehow my alarm clock jumped an hour, but coming out of the shower, I slipped. And my frozen knee bent completely back to where my foot was touching the back of my thigh.

The pain for the past week has been rough at times, but since then it's like I'm not even taking painkillers. It's been frustrating. I know I need to have lots of patience because I just had knee surgery. It's a small miracle in itself that I was only on crutches for two days.

I have to take 2 of my exams, so I'm not over with school as soon as I thought unfortunately. But next Saturday I will be a free woman!!!!

And it wasn't plica band syndrome like they thought it was. It turns out that I had an extra layer of tissue growing around and in my knee. So they removed that. I haven't felt anything since I woke up from the 40min surgery (the last thing I remember is a nurse telling me that they'll take good care of me and then I'm being told to open my eyes). I feel slightly loopy now... but it's hard to sleep when you have to keep your knee elevated. Thank god for laptops. I'm hoping that I'll be able to go to a movie party tomorrow, but my dad keeps on telling me that "we have to wait and see how you feel in the morning." In the words of my surgeon (as told to me from my dad), "If you feel a dull pain, you aren't keeping your knee high enough. If you feel a sharp pain, you just had knee surgery."

I'm just extremely happy because before they told me I'd have to do 3 months of physical therapy. Now, I have to do NONE! They abbreviate physical therapy to pt-- which stands for pain and torturement. It's not fun. And I'm glad I'm not going back.

So I went to my orthopaedic surgeon yesterday, and after four years of pretty much hell with my knees, he is very certain that he knows what I have: plica band syndrome. Unfortunately, PBS (haha pbs...) doesn't show up on MRIs or xrays, so the only way we'll know is by surgery. There's a 90% chance that I may have it, and after the surgery it's only 4 days on crutches, a walking cast, then 3 months of rehab. But that's just for the left knee... I have to repeat for the right. But I'm actually really optomistic about it because there's a good chance that if I DO have PBS, then all my problems can go bye-bye forever!!! YAY!!!
